Restaurants and food establishments in Guadalajara have an increasingly prominent position within the region’s tourism and catering sectors. The city currently features numerous high-quality food establishments.

The collection of recipes from the region of Guadalajara is made up of traditional and simple Castillian-style dishes which reflect the austerity of these lands. Garlic soup, migas (fried bread crumbs in olive oil and garlic), gachas (a kind of porridge), beans in grape syrup, traditional roasted lamb and kid goat, small game, trout and wild mushrooms make up some of the main specialties of our cuisine. As dessert, the star product of the capital of La Alcarria is the liquor soaked cake (bizcocho borracho); the famous La Alcarria honey brings its delicious taste to numerous recipes.

During their stay, visitors may choose from a wide variety of dishes, as well as from a broad range of restaurants that will delight the most demanding palates.

Go out for tapas in Guadalajara

Those who would like to make a stop on your sightseeing tour of Guadalajara and taste the exquisite La Alcarria cuisine in small doses may go out for a few “tapas” in any of the many bars and restaurants of the city.

We suggest you stroll around the old part of the city, through the popular calle Bardales and neighbouring streets. The axis that runs from plaza de Santo Domingo-La Carrera to La Concordia and San Roque, or the new area of the Bulevar de Entrepeñas, just five minutes away from the Palace of El Infantado, host some options that will not disappoint you.

From the traditional “tapas” to the more elaborate “pinchos” (bigger portions), any alternative is good to get to know the wide range of possibilities that our regional products have to offer.
