In front of the Royal Alcazar and next to the Infantado Palace, in the Plaza de España, stands the Church of Los Remedios.

Don Pedro González de Mendoza, bishop of Salamanca and founder of a charitable institution in this location, left at his death everything stipulated about its foundation, starting the works in 1574. The church, which was part of the convent and Colegio de Doncellas de Nuestra Señora del Remedio, was later run by Hieronymite nuns. It functioned as such until 1853, when it was disentailed and the Provincial Hospital was located here. After the disappearance of the cloister and the monastery buildings, the classrooms of the Faculty of Education of the University have been located in the same place. Today we can only find its Renaissance church (completed in 1578) and since 1993, its interior houses the Auditorium of the University of Alcalá de Henares in Guadalajara. On the outside, the beautiful composition of the atrium stands out, formed by three large semicircular arches.

Inside, in addition to admiring the nave and Larrondo's fresco, you can visit the new Antonio Molero Museum of Education. For many years, the Professor of Theory and History of Education Mr. Antonio Molero Pintado, who died on March 27, 2017, and his wife Mrs. Margarita Cantarero Yases, collected a large number of educational pieces from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, mostly national and some international objects. Among these pieces are desks, games, uniforms and maps. The donation is completed by a large bibliographic collection, mainly made up of books and magazines on pedagogy, school work, textbooks and magazines.
This pedagogical museum awakens visitors' childhood memories through the different pieces on display and invites further research into the use of didactic material used in Spanish schools in order to preserve their history.
