Thanks to recent urban development in the area, there is easy access from the Fort of San Francisco to the end of San Roque Park, home to Mausoleum of the Countess of La Vega del Pozo and San Diego Alcalá Foundation, one of the finest examples of 19th century Spanish architecture.

The Duchess of Sevillano and Countess of La Vega del Pozo commissioned this project to Ricardo Velázquez Bosco.

The main building is noted for its large interior courtyard as well as its brick façade’s imposing limestone entrance, which shows renaissance influences.

Velázquez Bosco designed and built the Foundation to perfection. His eclectic style never fails to find the balance between the structural elements and a wealth and variety of adornments.
