Religious architecture

Direction: Plaza de la Virgen de la Antigua, 4, Guadalajara.
Telephone: 949 214 772
From plaza Mayor, calle Doctor Mayoral leads down to the nearby Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Antigua, previously called the church of Santo Tomé.
Free entry.
On arriving at the church, we discover the 14th century Mudejar arch, crowned by a bell- gable, and the Neo-gothic façade.
Once inside the sanctuary our surprise is even greater: the striking high altar with the Virgin’s niche, the wrought-iron railing with its mysterious figures, and the splendid Chapel of La Ascensión, topped by a dome of exquisite mannerist style.
